Located on the southeastern shore of Lake Wakatipu, the range lives up to its name by rising sharply to create an impressive backdrop for the waters. The Remarkables is the closest Helicopter landing spot from Queenstown Airport, and snow can be found here until early November.
Double Cone, Remarkables
The quick and easy “Epic” spot in Queenstown that is over 7000ft up in the air. Clouds will appear surreal as they are only a few meters above you!
Lower Cecil Peak
Cecil Peak is the main mountain view you’ll see from Queenstown central. With panoramic views facing North, it is one of the most popular landing spots for Weddings in Queenstown.
The Ledge, Cecil Peak
Not for the faint of heart - This spot is called “The Ledge” for obvious reasons and is an epic spot on Cecil Peak for couples wanting really dramatic photos.
Cecil Peak Heli Golf Greens
The Golf Greens on Cecil Peak are privately owned and only accessible with one of our suppliers - this means there won’t be any other heli landings here while you have your wedding!
This area is flat and doesn’t have any steep drops, making it a sensible and safe option for weddings involving children or elderlies. You can also have a go at driving some golf balls off the ledge!
Bayonet Peak, Queenstown
Bayonet Peak is positioned behind Cecil Peak, and across the lake from the Remarkables. This spot is sheltered away from Southerly winds by neighbouring mountains, making it a calm and relaxing spot even in cloudy weather.
Vanguard Peak, Queenstown
Lochy River, Queenstown
If it gets too windy to land on the mountain top, diverting off to the Lochy River will be the safe option, right in between Bayonet Peak and Vanguard Peak. With many waterfalls and wild deer roaming around, it is a hunter’s paradise.
Glenorchy Heli Wedding Landing Spots
Earnslaw Burn, Glenorchy
Be at a loss of words at how magnificent this place is. Earnslaw Burn was used as a filming spot for the Lord of the Rings, and is a private landing spot only accessible with one of our suppliers. Waterfalls rushing down from the melted ice on the glacier above - simply stunning.
Mt Bonpland, Glenorchy
Mount Bonpland is the big mountain you’ll see on the other side of the lake, looking West from Glenorchy. Overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Glenorchy Delta, Mt Bonpland offers stunning panoramic views and is one of our favourite landing spots. The terrain here is soft and forgiving, which is a bonus.
The Humboldts, Glenorchy
The Humbolts is a beautiful mountain range on the opposite side of Glenorchy, located at the very north of Lake Wakatipu. There are a few landing spots at the Humboldts, ranging from grassy to rocky depending on the height of the landing spot.
Mt Creighton, Glenorchy
Mt Creighton is positioned right in between Queenstown and Glenorchy, overlooking the magnificent Lake Wakatipu. Enjoy panoramic views stretching from Glenorchy to the north, down to Queenstown towards the South. Although there is no snow here in Summer, Mt Creighton looks great especially around sunset.
Lake Lochnagar
Lake Lochnagar is a mountain-top alpine lake in the North Eastern side of Glenorchy. There is a waterfall by the lakeside in summer, and in winter it is packed with snow - Lucky for our brides, there is almost no wind there as the lake sits within a deep valley.
The Rees Valley
The Rees Valley was recently used as a filming location by Tom Cruise’ in his “Mission Impossible: Fall Out”. The helicopter will land on the upper ridges of the valley facing north west, perfect to go with the late afternoon sun.
Wanaka Heli Wedding Landing Spots
Roy’s Peak, Wanaka
Coromandel Peak, better known as “Roys Peak” is undoubtedly New Zealand’s Premiere Heli Wedding spot, overlooking Lake Wanaka and looking towards Mt Aspiring. Although this mountain is climbed by tens of thousands of Instagrammers every year, our Helicopter operators will take us to a higher spot (private land) called Coromandel Peak for an unforgettable and truly magnificent Heli Wedding experience.
Twin Peaks, Wanaka
Twin Peaks is located across the lake from Mt Roy - often overshadowed by Roys Peak’s popularity, but a very beautiful and versatile location with cliff-top views, flatter terrain to the South and valley views to the North.
Fog Peak, Wanaka
Fog Peak is nestled opposite Mt Aspiring, among the deep mountain valleys behind the Treble Cone. There are snowy spots high up in the mountains even in summer, and can quite frequently be foggy - suppose it’s called “Fog Peak” for a reason.
Alta Tarns
Alta Tarns is a beautiful spot up on Mt Alta, overlooking the deep river valleys. If a warmer spot is preferred, Alta Tarns can be a great Heli Wedding spot in Summer. We fly to Alta Tarns from a Helicopter Base near Mt Aspiring in Wanaka.
Mt Cook Wedding Helicopter Landing Spots
Liebig Dome, Mt Cook
This is as close as you can get to the peak of Mt Cook, with a stunning backdrop contrasted by red mineral rocks in the foreground. In Summer, there are some spots at Liebig Dome that are covered in snow, overlooking a beautiful glacial lake. For this beautiful spot, we take off from Glentanner Airport at the base of Mt Cook and fly through some of the most beautiful scenery in New Zealand.
Richardson Glacier, Mt Cook
If you are looking for photos on the snow in summer, Richardson Glacier is the perfect spot for it. Enjoy the warm summer sun, while standing on ancient glacial ice and snow. For this beautiful spot, we take off from Glentanner Airport at the base of Mt Cook and fly through some of the most beautiful scenery in New Zealand.
Brass Peak, Mt Cook
