Emma and Jack's Queenstown Heli-Wedding Elopement

A helicopter elopement in Queenstown is a perfect way to celebrate your relationship and to have an amazing adventure at the same time. There is no perfect way to describe the feeling of lifting off from the heliport, having an amazing up-close tour of three different mountains, several alpine lakes and glaciers, before landing by a mountain-top alpine lake 2343 meters in elevation.

Emma and Jack traveled from Auckland to Queenstown for their helicopter elopement and tie the knot at Lake Lochnagar. With the terrible weather we had been having, we were skeptical if the helicopter would be able to fly. One the morning of the elopement, Mother Nature decided to co-operate with a perfect blue sky day. After arriving at the heliport, we donned our Covid-19 protective face masks and followed our pilot out to the helicopter. He gave us a very detailed safety briefing about the helicopter and then we climbed in for the ride.

While ascending above the mountains, we were given a brief history of the geology of the Whistler area and how the mountains and lakes were formed. The forming of Lake Lochnagar was a very interesting story of an earthquake forming a lake. A few minutes later, we had safely landed on the shores and moved to a beautiful lakeside point with amazing backdrops of a frozen waterfall in the background. We performed their ceremony, and after Emma and Jack had shared their vows and first kiss as a married couple, we toasted them with local Otago champagne before spending the remainder of our time taking some portraits with the panoramic views behind.
